Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program (TEDP)

What is Alaska Relay Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program?

The purpose of Alaska Relay Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program (TEDP) is to provide equal access to the Alaska Relay and Captioned Telephone (CapTel) services. The program will assist customers and basic TTY communications to those persons who do not currently have any type of TTY equipment or telephone.

Alaska residents who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind or speech-disabled are eligible to receive TTY equipment through TEDP at no charge.

Who is eligible for the TEDP program?
Individuals interested in the TEDP can be directed to Assistive Technology of Alaska (ATLA) Office located in Anchorage, Alaska.

For individuals to be eligible for the TEDP, individuals have:

  1. To be an Alaska Resident

  2. A significant hearing or speech loss

  3. have low income (Social Security Income (SSI) or Alaska Public Assistance)

How do I apply for the TEDP?
Contact the ATLA team and they will assist deaf or hard of hearing customers with the equipment distribution program applications forms.
